Our services
Every program is delivered by trained staff or volunteers with relevant language and cultural capability, with referrals to specialist services. Support is free and based on assessed need.
Our flagship program
When skilled people migrate, their qualifications too often go unrecognised and they end up in survival jobs far below their training. Our employment program exists to help newcomers return to meaningful employment in their area of expertise — and to help international students build career foundations while they study.
What we help with
New migrants in need facing barriers to employment — language, cultural unfamiliarity, unrecognised qualifications, or lack of local networks — and who don't otherwise have access to this support.
Also for international students studying in Australia who need guidance, referrals, internships and job-readiness support.
How it's delivered: by volunteers, facilitators and external providers with relevant industry, language and cultural capability. Free, based on assessed need.

Regional and remote NSW communities need more local health and care workers — and many newcomers already have the skills, compassion and experience to fill that gap.
We help people explore and move towards careers in healthcare, aged care, disability and community care — sectors with strong, ongoing demand across regional NSW. Support can include:
Our focus is on local people, locally trained, working where they're needed — helping individuals build secure careers while strengthening the communities that need care workers most.
As a community organisation, we engage with relevant government programs — including the Department of Home Affairs' Business, Industry and Regional Outreach (BIRO) — to stay informed about visa pathways that help address regional workforce shortages. This supports our information and referral role; MCCSC does not provide migration advice.
Why it matters
When a newcomer trains and works locally in care, two things happen at once: a person builds a future, and a community gains the workforce it needs to look after its people.
Help to navigate housing and essential services, information sessions, referrals, basic material assistance, and introductions to local community networks during those first months.
Guidance, referrals, internships and job-readiness support for international students studying in Australia — helping them settle, connect and build a foundation for their careers.
Patient, friendly digital skills sessions that help older people access online services, communicate with family, and engage with government and community resources.
Support for individuals and families affected by illness, a pandemic, disability or age — including social and emotional support, and guidance and referrals relating to the NDIS and aged care.
Confidential support
We provide confidential, trauma-informed support to people from migrant communities experiencing family hardship, distress or unsafe situations at home — including those facing financial hardship, isolation or language barriers.
This can include emotional support, practical and material assistance, guidance about available help and legal options, and referrals to specialist services and, where needed, safe emergency accommodation through partner organisations. Support focuses on immediate safety and stabilisation.

Community education
Alongside direct support, we provide education, training and information to migrant communities across Australia about domestic and family violence — what it is, where to find help, and how situations of harm can be reduced and prevented.
Delivered through community information sessions and culturally appropriate resources, in partnership with community leaders and specialist services, aimed especially at communities at risk of harm.
Information & referral
Navigating visas and migration can be confusing. We can help you understand where to find trustworthy, official help — and point you in the right direction.
For newcomers and international students, we can provide general information and referrals to the right places, including:
We can also help you understand letters and processes, connect you with employment and settlement support, and make warm referrals where appropriate.
MCCSC is not a registered migration agent and does not provide migration or visa advice. Under Australian law, only registered migration agents and legal practitioners can give immigration assistance. We provide general information and referrals only, free of charge.
If you need migration advice, please speak with a registered migration agent or legal practitioner.
Reach out confidentially. We'll listen, and help you find the right support.
