Our Commitment to Child Safety
The safety, wellbeing and rights of children and young people are at the centre of everything we do.
Multicultural Communities Support Centre Inc (“MCCSC”) is committed to the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of all children and young people who engage with our services, programs and activities. We have zero tolerance for child abuse, harm, neglect or exploitation of any kind.
1. Our commitment
We are committed to creating and maintaining a child safe environment where children and young people are respected, valued, listened to, and protected from harm. This commitment applies to all our board members, staff, volunteers, contractors and partners.
2. Aligned with the Child Safe Standards
We work towards the NSW Child Safe Standards and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, which include:
- embedding child safety in leadership, governance and culture;
- ensuring children and young people are informed about their rights and able to participate in decisions affecting them;
- involving families and communities in promoting child safety;
- upholding equity and respecting the diverse needs of all children, including children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children with disability, and LGBTIQ+ young people;
- ensuring people working with children are suitable and supported;
- maintaining clear processes to respond to and report concerns and complaints;
- equipping our people with knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children safe through ongoing training; and
- continuously reviewing and improving our policies and practices.
3. Safe recruitment and screening
Any person engaged by MCCSC in child-related work will be required to hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) and will be subject to appropriate screening and reference checks, in line with our recruitment procedures.
